The National Association of Funeral Directors, in conjunction with Cruse Bereavement Care in England has published the results of a survey they commissioned from YouGov under the title Funerals Matter. The report looked at people's views on funerals and funeral diretors, and found, among other things, that people found that funerals were less expensive than they expected, and that people were reluctant to think abou their own funeral. The poll also looked at how satisified people were with their funeral director, and how people chose a company to carry out the funeral. You can read a summary of the report here
And the CABs in Perth and Stirling have released a report entitled Unearthing thr True Cost of Funerals, based on the experience of both bureaux over the past two years. Among the conclusions are that, while the number of Local Authority funerals shows no major increase in the past 10 years, the number requested because the family cannot afford to pay has risen.
